Next is an excellent arrangement of the New Order classic “Blue Monday” by Japanese chiptune superstar Hally (it starts at 3:09 in the video). And if you’re into New Order chiptune covers, be sure to check out my own version of “Bizarre Love Triangle.”
Few sources of songwriter income are as consistent and dependable as public performance royalties. These are royalties that songwriters earn any time their songs are played in public, such as performed live at a concert, aired on TV/radio, and even streamed on services like Spotify, Pandora, or Apple Music.

Cerha utilized the bank of harmonic direction that Berg left behind in his piece — the geometry and notational patterns — to finalize the movement and motion of the remaining material so that it was as respectful to Berg’s musical linguistics as possible. After Helene’s death, Cerha’s secretly finished version could finally be unveiled through a 1979 performance led by conductor Pierre Boulez. The rest is history.
Our beloved Q-Town is becoming an in-demand stop for worldwide touring acts, performing at the city’s most iconic venues, such as Burt’s Tiki Lounge and the Sunshine Theatre. But those are just a few of the many wonderful venues here. In order to fully appreciate Albuquerque sonically, you have to be creative in your efforts. Here are some of our favorite spots!
Albuquerque’s open air flea market is the best place to find vintage records in town, and ones that are in surprisingly good condition. It’s a big flea market so you’ll need to get there early in order to cover serious ground. Not to mention they always have roasted green chile and sweet lollipops coated in red-chili powder (don’t knock it, till you try it)!
Be careful here. Don’t turn it up too loud and fool yourself into liking the result just because it’s louder. Do your best to match the input volume with the output volume of the compressor. We tend to think louder is better when it’s not really better, it’s just louder. Here’s a short video tutorial I shot below to show all of this in action on a mix I’ve started. Check it out!
So today, on World Television Day ’17, we’d like to commemorate 17 of the greatest moments in American-music-television history. Taking more than a little inspiration from the 1970s bestseller Zen & The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, this might be the best all-around volume written on audio engineering we’ve seen yet. Mixerman’s gift is his ability to meld his personal experience in recording and mixing with useful practical advice and thought-provoking philosophical musings. He moves easily from the big picture to the small details (and then back again) meaning that this book is just as useful for a relatively experienced reader as it is for a beginner. It’s really got something for everyone.
All of our mentored online courses come with six weeks of 1-on-1 professional coaching and feedback on your work. It’s like having a personal trainer, but for music! Share your goals with us and we’ll find a course for you, or create a custom mentorship session with a pro musician, engineer, educator, or music industry veteran, to help you achieve them.
Source-Connect Now is a similar product, but it’s free! If you have the budget, however, I recommend ipDTL because it has greater mixing capabilities and is more common in the industry, making it easier to work with other companies and voice talent. That being said, when just beginning, Source-Connect Now can certainly get the job done. Both services offer a private link to send to your guests and allow you to have more than one guest in different locations. It’s just like connecting via Skype, but at a much better quality. As long as you both have a solid internet connection and suitable recording environments, your interview will sound great. You didn’t even have to leave your bedroom!
Write down exactly what you hope to accomplish during a session and include all the relevant steps or sub-goals. For example, if your main goal is to record “Song A,” get specific about what you need to do in order to get it all done in the most manageable way. From laying down a scratch track in the demo phase to knowing when in the production process to add ornamental sound design elements, chart out the steps so you don’t end up wasting valuable time. This saves you time because it forces you to plan and act before recording, not reactively and inefficiently throughout the process.
This technique is most widely used as an alternative to the “speeding buildup” technique. Here, the buildup section is supported with a marching snare-type instrument, serving the purpose of increasing the energy right before the chorus or the drop.
